COLUMBIA WORKSHOP
The Columbia Workshop began on CBS July 18, 1936. An interesting aspect of this show is that the directors were allowed to explore and develop innovative sound production methods. The series utilized the talents of new actors and writers because more famous names would have exceeded their budget. Several top performers and writers started with the Columbia Workshop. Norman Corwin and Orson Welles are two examples.
